Modern Technology

The above picture shows a fairly common scene in modern society: a workspace saturated with technology. With laptops, cell phones, tablets, and various other devices, our culture continues to root itself in technology. Knowledge of these devices, their software, and other online tools, therefore, provides an advantage. These advantages apply everywhere from personal organization to professional productivity.

In an online class like this one, knowledge of technological features allows for increased creativity and efficiency. Fortunately, I have had class experience with a blog before. While I studied in Italy several summers ago, one class requirement was to maintain a blog of our experiences. The blog did not include much in terms of links and extensive website publishing, but it did provide practice with a blogging interface. I learned how to post images, see other blogs, and increase the creativity of the blog through manipulating various settings. In this class, I am hoping to develop these skills even further. Developing my own website will be a challenging experience, but I think that I will learn a lot in the process. Another area which I find interesting but have never devoted any time toward is image editing. Whether this includes enhancing images or creating memes, I think this is a valuable tool to have in the modern professional world!

Increased technological awareness and experience will only help in the future, and I look forward to gaining some of these skills as a result of this class.

Week 11 Storytelling: The Jealous Father

The boy woke up, confused as to where he was. It was dark outside, and he had difficulty seeing anything. All of a sudden, his memory returned. A flash of fire. Yelling people. Being thrown on the back of a horse. He had been kidnapped. For years, there had been a war between his tribe and the neighboring tribe. His dad, though they didn't get along very well, was the chief of their tribe. This put him, as his son, in a position of importance. Perhaps that could explain the kidnapping. He had been laid down inside a tent, presumably after they had knocked him out. The tent wasn't very large, and shadows of people outside were thrown up on the walls.
