Week 8 Comments and Feedback
In looking back at my initial feedback posts at the beginning of this semester, I still agree with my perspective! After reviewing several articles about feedback, I discussed the importance of feedback for our growth, both personally and professionally. Approaching these comments and constructive criticisms with the proper perspective enables us to expand in ways that might not be possible without the help and insight of others.
Feedback In
In general, people have had a lot of uplifting comments! This is something that I have noticed not only on my work but also on the work of others. Everyone has been encouraging in their reactions and advice, which improves the atmosphere of the class. I have found that the most helpful comments have been those which provide specific questions or challenges. These questions often initiate discussions of things that I had not previously thought of, which allows me to expand my stories (particularly my storybook) in a way that is coherent and appeals to a larger group of people.
Feedback Out
Looking at other people's posts has been extremely helpful. There are so many storytelling methods that I never would have considered on my own! Regarding my own comments on the work of others, some of them have probably been helpful and others not so helpful. I have a tendency to be vague in my responses and am inclined to leave responses that won't rub anyone the wrong way. The posts where I have discussed specific questions or precise ways to improve the work have probably been more helpful than anything else!
Blog Comments
I have enjoyed this aspect of the class. Surprisingly, I feel like I have learned a lot about other students through reading introductions and commenting! I think my introduction provides just that - a brief introduction to who I am and what is important to me. Every once in a while, it's fun to go back and look at comments that people have left after reading it.
Looking Forward
I think the biggest component with feedback in moving forward is to continue to make specific contributions! I appreciate when people are not vague when they comment on my work, as it allows me to critique and edit certain parts of my work. I also think my own comments are more helpful to others when I provide specifics!

First, I chose this picture because it has such a small kitten! Baby animals and sunsets are both good things. On a more serious note, I like this image because it promotes the idea of growth. Feedback should not be viewed as a negative thing, but instead as a way to growth and maturity. Appropriate feedback allows us to move forward!
